นายกฯ รับฟังความต้องการชาวสวนทุเรียน อ.เกาะสมุย ยัน เห็นถึงความสำคัญของการเป็นพืชเศรษฐกิจตัวใหม่ ขอเวลาศึกษาการสร้างสะพานข้ามเกาะ ถึงพื้นที่และผลกระทบที่เกิดขึ้นวันที่ ๗ เม.ย. ๒๕๖๗ น.ส.เกณิกา อุ่นจิตร์ รองโฆษกประจำสำนักนายกรัฐมนตรี เปิดเผยว่า นายเศรษฐา ทวีสิน นายกรัฐมนตรีและรัฐมนตรีว่าการกระทรวงการคลัง รับฟังปัญหาของกลุ่มเกษตรกรแปลงใหญ่ และเยี่ยมชมแปลงทุเรียนสาธิต ณ แปลงทุเรียนสาธิตสวนทุเรียน นายชัยณรงค์ ทองสุข อำเภอเกาะสมุย จังหวัดสุราษฎร์ธานี ซึ่งเป็นการรวมตัวของเกษตรกรผู้ปลูกทุเรียนในตำบลหน้าเมือง อำเภอเกาะสมุย เพื่อเข้ากระบวนการพัฒนาตามระบบส่งเสริมเกษตรแบบแปลงใหญ่ โดยพัฒนาความรู้ในการปลูกและดูแลทุเรียนให้มีคุณภาพ สามารถยกระดับความรู้ พัฒนาผลผลิตให้มีคุณภาพเพิ่มขึ้น และมีการนำเอาเทคโนโลยีนวัตกรรมเข้ามาบริหารจัดการแปลงได้อย่างเหมาะสม โดยนายกฯ ได้รับทราบประเด็นปัญหาและความต้องการจากผู้แทนเกษตรกรผู้ปลูกทุเรียนในตำบลหน้าเมือง อำเภอเกาะสมุย เช่น ความต้องการสะพานข้ามเกาะ เพิ่มเที่ยวเรือเพื่อแก้ไขปัญหาการขนส่ง ปัญหาเรื่องที่ดิน ปัญหาแหล่งน้ำและไฟฟ้าที่ไม่เพียงพอ ทั้งนี้ นายกฯ กล่าวว่า การมาเยี่ยมชมสวนทุเรียนในวันนี้ รัฐบาลมองเห็นถึงความสำคัญของทุเรียนซึ่งทุเรียนเป็นพืชเศรษฐกิจตัวใหม่ของเรา สามารถสร้างรายได้ให้กับประเทศและเกษตรกรอย่างมหาศาล สำหรับกรณีการขอให้มีการเพิ่มเที่ยวเรือนั้น นายกฯ มอบกรมเจ้าท่าศึกษาการเพิ่มเที่ยวเรือเพื่อ ท่าเรือ แก้ปัญหาการขนส่งทุเรียน และมอบเทศบาลนครเกาะสมุย ดูแลเรื่องถนนและไฟฟ้า ส่วนการก่อสร้างสะพานนั้น ต้องขอเวลาศึกษาความเหมาะสมของพื้นที่ ผลกระทบที่จะเกิดขึ้นก่อน พร้อมย้ำว่ารัฐบาลพร้อมส่งเสริมทุเรียนและมังคุด ซึ่งเป็นพืชเศรษฐกิจที่สำคัญของประเทศ และพร้อมจะขจัดอุปสรรคทีละเรื่องตามงบประมาณ ตามความถูกต้อง เพราะฉะนั้นขอให้เกษตรกรชาวสวนทุเรียนมั่นใจ สำหรับสถานการณ์การปลูกทุเรียน ที่จัดได้ว่าเป็นพืชเศรษฐกิจที่มีการส่งออกสูงสุด สามารถสร้างมูลค่าและสร้างรายได้ให้กับประเทศ โดยเฉพาะอําเภอเกาะสมุยการทำสวนทุเรียนเป็นอาชีพรองจากภาคการท่องเที่ยว พื้นที่ปลูกส่วนใหญ่เป็นพื้นที่บริเวณภูเขาไม่มีเอกสารสิทธิ์ อาศัยน้ำฝน และแหล่งน้ำจากธรรมชาติในการบริหารจัดการผลผลิต ทั้งนี้ พื้นที่ปลูกทุเรียนและปริมาณการผลิต อำเภอเกาะสมุยมีพื้นที่ปลูกทุเรียน จำนวน ๑๓,๗๑๓ ไร่ จำนวน ๑,๕๑๗ ครัวเรือน โดยมีพื้นที่ปลูกมากที่สุด คือ ตำบลหน้าเมือง จำนวน ๔,๖๑๘ ไร่ จำนวน ๔๖๓ ครัวเรือน รองลงมา คือตำบลแม่น้ำ จำนวน ๒,๖๑๘ ไร่ จำนวน ๒๕๔ ครัวเรือน ตำบลมะเร็ต ๒,๐๖๙ ไร่ จำนวน ๑๙๖ ครัวเรือน ตำบลอ่างทอง จำนวน ๑,๕๒๕ ไร่ จำนวน ๑๙๖ ครัวเรือน ตำบลตลิ่งงาม จำนวน ๑,๔๒๕ ไร่ จำนวน ๑๖๗ ครัวเรือน ตำบลลิปะน้อย จำนวน ๑,๑๗๒ ไร่ จำนวน ๑๙๓ ครัวเรือนและตำบลบ่อผุด จำนวน ๒๘๖ ไร่ ๔๘ ครัวเรือน ตามลำดับผลผลิตปัจจุบันประมาณ ๓๐,๐๐๐ ตัน มูลค่า ๕,๐๐๐ ล้าน และเชื่อว่าภายใน ๒-๓ ปีข้างหน้า ผลผลิตและมูลค่าจะเพิ่มขึ้นเป็น ๒ เท่า อย่างแน่นอน
