Rain will come with La Niña.

Results of the meeting to monitor and assess the water situation last week. Between the National Water Resources Office (NTC) and related agencies…it is now near the end of the season. Currently, there is 45,099 million cubic meters of water in water sources nationwide, or 55% of the capacity, which is less than last year. 2% is considered to be in good condition. Even though Thailand will have less rain than normal due to the influence of El Niño conditions. But the relevant agencies have planned to store as much water as possible at the beginning of the dry season. In order to have enough water to use throughout the dry season. There is a trend for the amount of rain to begin increasing from mid-May onwards and it is expected that The rainy season is coming. Thailand will experience La Niña conditions. And it is possible from the preliminary statistics that there is a trend. In Thailand, there will be 1-3 storms this year. However, there are some reservoirs with low water levels, including 4 large reservoirs, including Sirikit Dam. Krasiao Dam Khlong Si Yat Dam and Chulabhorn Dam, including another 85 medium-sized reservoirs, together with the need to reserve water for the beginning of the rainy season. Because there is a chance of a period of delayed rain, we ask for cooperation from farmers who have already harvested second rice. Refrain from planting second rice in order to prevent the risk of water shortages which will damage agricultural products for the situation during the dry season. There are areas according to the announcement of emergency disaster relief zones (drought) by the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation in 4 provinces: Kanchanaburi, Chonburi, Prachuap Khiri Khan, and Buriram. This year, it is considered that the drought is not very widespread. Most of them are water shortage problems for consumption.
