ในที่เกิดเหตุบริเวณกลางถนนฝั่งเข้า ชายหาดจอมเทียน ใกล้เคียงตลาดควายกลางเมือง พบรถยนต์แวน ยี่ห้อเกีย สีดำ ทะเบียน ฮฮ 3886 กทม. สภาพห้องเครื่องยังมีกลุ่มควันพวยพุ่งออกมา โดยมี พ.จ.อ.พีรพัฒน์ นพศิริ ช่างไฟฟ้าอาวุธ เรือหลวงนเรศวร และชาวบ้านใช้ถังดับเพลิงเคมีช่วยกันดับไฟ จากนั้นจึงพยายามช่วยกันเปิดฝากระโปรงรถออก เพื่อดับไฟอีกครั้ง
จากการสอบถามนางสาว พัชราพร ฉัตรมอง อายุ 36 ปี คนขับรถ เล่าว่า รถยนต์ตนเองใช้มา 4 ปี ไม่ได้ติดแก๊ส หลังกลับจากส่งลูกไป ร.ร. มาถึงที่เกิดเหตุเมื่อเหยียบเบรคเท้ากลับใช้งานไม่ได้จึงใช้เบรคมือ จากนั้นจึงมีกลุ่มควันพุ่งออกมาจากห้องเครื่องหน้ารถ ก่อนไฟลุกไหม้ จึงรีบหนีออกมาจากรถขอความช่วยจากชาวบ้าน
